Three Screws Loose: Hometown Gig

Having been used to seeing Three Screws Loose gigging frequently around the small town of Shannon, people began to really miss these guys for a while. When the four piece announced that they'd be returning to a local pub in the town for a Stephens' day gig, it became the talk of the town over the Christmas period.
Originating from such a small town in Ireland essentially means these guys have quite a close-knit support network. It would be quite easy to label this band as a "rock" band, but to categorize them into a sub-genre such as Indie or classic rock, would be very difficult as the boys incorporate elements of everything into their sets.

On this Stephens' night, the Goalpost bar in Shannon was packed to capacity, and yes, most there dying to see Three Screws Loose again, but some of course just dying for a break from the family! The guys performed a long set of covers, which seemed to go down a treat. Basically, if you're looking for a fun night- Three Screws Loose always bring it.

One of the first songs of the night was a cover of San Diego Song by the Coronas, which is always guaranteed to get people singing along. They moved from that to songs such as Girls Just Wanna Have Fun, Hey Soul Sister and Mr Brightside. I usually find that when bands do sets of solely covers, it can get quite boring, but this was completely different. For one, the set had such variety that there really was music for every taste, and two, the boys just performed them like they were their own. There's no karaoke performances when it comes to these guys- I mean they actually made me kind of like Teenage Dream by Katy Perry, and believe me, that's saying something!

These guys are just good at what they do, and they certainly weren't disliked by anyone there that night. With everyone on their feet, screaming lyrics back at them, it proved that they definitely know how to perform and get a crowd going. If this is Three Screws Loose just doing covers, and on a local level... I can't wait to see them performing their own material, and on a bigger scale- and trust me, they will... And soon.
